Pasta meals has as principal element the pasta itself and if this is not cooked well , following the original advices of the Italian tradition, it may not be so good as wanted . There are a few advices regarding this aspects which are very easy , still these little differences make the difference. - Choose a large pan for boiling pasta.
- Consider to put 4 liters of water into the pan for 500 grams. Considering the quantity of pasta you are willing to cook, adjust the water quantity according to this relation.
- Add salt and oil to the water. This will offer a good taste to the pasta and also, they won’t be sticky.
- When adding the pasta into the water, first you have to make sure that the water is boiling and only after that add it. Also, remember to add gradually, because the water shouldn’t stop from boiling while doing that.
- Stir the pasta once in a while. Prevent them from sticking to the bottom of the pan.

- While cooking the pastas, do not cover the pan.
- Some of us break the spaghetti before placing them into the boiling water. It’s ok, but it’s preferable to keep it with the original length.
- Use a fork when checking if the pastas are cooked.
- You will have to be attentive when deciding if they are cooked or not. If they are firm but tender in the same time, it’s almost sure that they are well done. Avoid very tender pastas, they are not cooked properly. They don’t harm, but they are not the original pastas.
- After you pour the pastas into a colander, you can wash off the salt by pouring cold water. This step is optional.
- Add other ingredients to the pastas when they are dried enough.
